KOICA 엘살바도르 의료 역량 강화 프로젝트 파견

Deployment for KOICA Medical Capacity Building Project in El Salvador

KOICA(한국국제협력단)의 모자 보건 향상 프로젝트의 일환으로 연초에 엘살바도르 산살바도르로 파견. 공공 의료 종사자들을 대상으로 의료 역량 강화 및 응급의료 시스템 강화를 위한 ‘트레이닝 더 트레이너(Training the Trainers)’ 교육을 진행함.

Traveled to San Salvador, El Salvador, at the beginning of the year as part of the KOICA (Korea International Cooperation Agency) project to improve maternal and infant health. Conducted "Training the Trainers" sessions for public healthcare providers to enhance medical capacity and strengthen the EMS system.

KOICA(한국국제협력단)의 국립보건교육센터 설립 및 보건교육 강화사업의 일환으로, 서울 순천향대학교 국제사업팀과 협력하여 제4차 보건 강사 양성(ToT) 교육이 엘살바도르 산살바도르에서 진행되었다. 본 교육은 일차 보건의료 인력의 역량 강화를 목표로, 현지 의료진이 보다 효과적인 보건교육을 수행할 수 있도록 지원했다.

SCH 재난의학센터장은 응급의료 및 재난의료 전문가로 참여하여, 자연재해 대응 및 응급처치 교육을 진행했다. 지진, 홍수, 화산 분화 등 주요 재난 발생 시 의료진의 대응 절차를 강화하고, 환자 분류(Triage) 및 응급처치 역량을 향상하는 데 중점을 두었다.

또한, 현지 보건소를 방문해 응급의료 및 모자보건 체계를 점검하고, 개선 방향을 모색했다. 이번 프로젝트는 현지 의료진이 지속적으로 역량을 키울 수 있도록 ‘트레이닝 더 트레이너’ 방식을 적용하여, 장기적인 보건교육 시스템 구축을 목표로 한다.

SCH 재난의학센터는 앞으로도 국제 보건 협력을 통해 응급의료 및 재난 대응 역량 강화에 기여할 계획이다.

As part of KOICA’s National Health Education Center Establishment and Health Education Enhancement Project, the 4th Training of Trainers (ToT) program was conducted in collaboration with Soonchunhyang University’s International Business Team in San Salvador, El Salvador. This initiative aimed to enhance the capacity of primary healthcare professionals, equipping them with the skills needed to deliver effective health education.

The director of SCH Disaster Medicine Center participated as an expert in emergency and disaster medicine, leading training sessions on disaster response and emergency care. The program covered critical procedures for responding to earthquakes, floods, and volcanic eruptions, with a focus on improving triage and emergency medical response capabilities
.
Additionally, the director visited local health centers to assess emergency and maternal healthcare systems and provide recommendations for improvement. This project applied a Training the Trainers approach, ensuring that local healthcare professionals could continue training others, fostering long-term capacity building.
